This page will guide you on the steps to set up your PR Backlink Profile and show you how they can help boost your brand visibility and reputation.
What is a PR Backlink?
When a webpage links to any other page, it's called a backlink. It is simply a link from one website to another. In the context of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), backlinks are crucial because they act as a "vote of confidence" from one site to another, indicating to search engines that others vouch for your content. This can improve a site's ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs), making it more visible to potential visitors.
Most of our backlinks come from sources like reporter requests from established publications. We use AI to pitch your business to high quality domains. Before placement we have a vetting process where ensure we only place backlinks that are high authority (DR40+) and are from genuine sources relevant to the business.
How we automate your pitches
We use your website, LinkedIn profile, headshot, and a detailed bio to build a profile about you. Then every time a journalist puts out a request on the internet, we automatically answer their request and send an email on your behalf.
To get started you will need to complete four simple steps:
Step 1: Add Your Name
Add the name of a real person who will be representing your company. This person will be the face and voice of your company for all backlink requests and should be a real and verifiable person.
Step 2: Add Your LinkedIn Profile
Add the actual LinkedIn profile page for the person used in Step 1. This information is used to match you with journalist requests and adds credibility that you are a real, trustworthy contributor, enhancing your chances of having your pitch selected. It is important that the company their person is pitching for is included in their LinkedIn profile.
Step 3: Create a Backlink Bio
A well written, fully realized backlink bio is the key to a successful pitch. Your bio should include unique information about you, ideally that can’t be found anywhere else on the internet. It should also include any credentials you may have and numbers were possible. For more information on creating the best bio possible, click on the link above.
Step 4: Add a Headshot
Much like your LinkedIn Profile, a headshot gives the journalist a sense of security that you are who you say you are - a real person and an expert in your field. This adds credibility to your pitches and increases your odds of being selected. This should be a photo of you, not of your business or product.
Step 5: Edit Your Topics (Optional)
If you want even more control over who is being sent your pitches, you can edit the topics used to find journalists in your field. When your profile is first created our AI will determine a large spread of keywords related to your website and product. It will use these keywords to find journalists asking questions in your area of expertise. In the beginning this group of keywords is very wide. This is to ensure that you are getting coverage. If you wish to dial those keywords down to a more specific niche you can do that by going to your Backlink Settings and editing the Editing the PR outreach topics.
And that is it! Once those steps are completed Adaptify will take over and begin to send out pitches to a number of different requestors on your behalf.
What happens after a PR pitch is sent to a reporter?
Once your Backlink profile is complete, any pitches created will be automatically sent onwards to the requesting reporter. It usually takes anywhere from a few days up to a few weeks for reporters to decide whether they will select your pitch and include a backlink in their article. Success rates can vary from about 5-20% depending on the niche and your profile, so it's mostly a question of sending out a good number of relevant pitches. Usually we can get the first backlinks placed towards the end of your first month.
What success rate can we expect?
We scan for backlink opportunities on a daily basis. It depends on the niche, but for most niches we're able to find 1-3 opportunities a day, which works out to 30-100 pitches per month. With a 5-20% success rate that works out to about 1-6 backlink placements.
